Sheffield Wednesday loan star could leave parent club permanently this summer

According to a report from the Newcastle Chronicle (via Bristol Post), Sheffield Wednesday’s loaned in winger Rolando Aarons could leave parent club Newcastle United on a permanent basis during the summer transfer window.

According to a report from the Newcastle Chronicle, Championship side Sheffield Wednesday are in pole position to sign Newcastle United winger Rolando Aarons on a permanent basis.

The report claims that the winger’s career at St James’ Park could come to an end in the next summer transfer window, with the 23-year-old not featuring in Rafa Benitez’s first-team plans at Newcastle.

With that being said, loan club Sheffield Wednesday are favourites to sign him this summer after a strong start to life at Hillsborough. Aarons has been putting in some impressive performances since his loan move to the Owls on transfer deadline day of the January transfer window and he has made no secret of the fact that he is thoroughly enjoying his time with the Championship side.

Wednesday are unbeaten in their last nine games – eight of which Aarons has played in. He has netted one goal and provided one assist since his arrival and he seems to have made a good impression on supporters.

Prior to his move to Hillsborough in January, Aarons spent the first half of the season on loan with Czech side Slovan Liberec, playing 13 times, providing no goals or assists.

Aarons broke onto the scene at St James’ Park in the 2014/15 season but has struggled to nail down a place in the first team ever since. Now, with his Newcastle career seemingly nearing an end, he could have opened up a new door to an extended spell with Sheffield Wednesday.
