Steve Bruce pleased as Sheffield Wednesday continue unbeaten run

Sheffield Wednesday head coach Steve Bruce has told the Sheffield Star that he is very pleased after the Owls continued their unbeaten run with a 4-2 win over Blackburn Rovers.

Wednesday are yet to lose since Bruce became the new manager and now the club have a serious chance of making it into the Sky Bet Championship play-offs. And they were able to continue that form today with a thrilling 4-2 victory over Blackburn.

In the first half, things went well as Wednesday dominated and got the lead through Steven Fletcher. In the second half, that lead was doubled by Fletcher’s substitute, Atdhe Nuhiu. Blackburn did peg Wednesday back through a Craig Conway goal but the Owls re-established their dominant lead with goals from Dominic Iorfa and Marco Matias. Blackburn got something to cheer at the end though when Ryan Bennett scored their second of the day.

Bruce was very pleased with the win as it extended Wednesday’s unbeaten run to 11 games. He said: “It’s fair to say that we got our goals at the right time. I always thought Blackburn were a threat, they are a good side going forward.”

“They’ve got a unique partnership in Graham, who has been around the block a bit and I’ve had him and know all about him, and the boy Dack.”

“Dack gave us problems all afternoon, so it was difficult in that respect.”

“At this part of the season it’s about getting the result on an awful afternoon. I thought Bolton was difficult on Tuesday but I thought that was the worst conditions we’ve been up against.”

“I’m delighted about that, I wish we hadn’t conceded in the way we did. We went deep too quickly with too long to go and made it a bit awkward for ourselves at the end but to score four, I’m delighted.”
