Bristol City sign striker and he discusses his move to Ashton Gate

Bristol City have today completed the signing of striker Rodri until January with an option to extend this until the end of the season as confirmed on their official website.

The Robins have been looking out for a striker since the season ending injury to Benik Afobe who they had acquired on loan from Stoke City.

The signing of Rodri could now effectively end their interest in Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah who is currently on loan at Leeds United. There have been rumours that Arsenal could recall the striker in January should his game time not increase but it is unlikely that Bristol City have the finances available to complete a deal now.

Rodri has had a previous spell in England with Sheffield Wednesday but endured a rather frustrating loan spell with the Owls.

The former La Liga frontman has expressed his delight at joining Lee Johnson’s side. “It’s my job to score goals and I will try my best for this club and this team and I want them to be in first place.”

“My first impressions of the manager are that I think he is a good coach and a good person and that’s very important for me. I want to thank him for the opportunity to play in England again.”

“I am really happy to be in England again. It’s a new opportunity for me to show my football and I’m excited to be start playing,” he said.

“I think the English league suits my style of football and I can help the club – together we will enjoy this season.”

The Spaniard could make his debut next Wednesday when City take on Charlton Athletic and he is eager to take to the pitch for his new club.

“The stadium is very nice and it is a very friendly club and I love that. Our fans are massive and I am really excited about playing in front of them,” he added.
